This marvelous monument was a gift from the General Electric Company in 1929 on the 50th anniversary of the invention of the incandescent light bulb and in honor of the 75th anniversary of the founding of Atlantic City. Located in South Jersey at Brighton Park, Atlantic City NJ, "The Fountain of Light" turned into an important part of Atlantic City's past, present and future. By 1978 the fountain was turned into a planter and casinos had just come to town. In 1984 Thomas Byrd, a very young plumber at the time, decided to resurrect the Fountain to its original stature. Many said "It couldn't be done", but just look at the results. The Fountain ran for the next 23 years under Thomas Byrd's maintenance program. In 2007 the CRDA allocated moneys to rebuild the Fountain to its original splendor with modern technology. The company still maintains "The Fountain of Light" to this day.
